Rue La La Summer Internship Program

Rue is looking for bright, innovative and passionate students to be interns in our Merchandising, Marketing, Creative, Planning, Programming, Finance, Talent, and Event Production departments.

Rue La La’s 2013 summer internship program is a 10 week paid internship program running from June 10 through August 16th. The program is a full time summer commitment at 40 hours per week, open to rising college junior and seniors.

Rue La La’s internship program offers an enriching experience in the retail ecommerce industry. Interns will participate in daily business activities in their assigned department while having the opportunity to learn about the company overall. Interns will also have the opportunity to meet with Rue’s senior leaders.

Title: Talent Intern

Purpose and Scope: The Talent intern will spending time learning about both the Recruiting function and Learning and Development function of Rue La La’s Talent Team. The intern will spend a portion of their time dedicated to each discipline performing tasks to support each function.

Principal Responsibilities:

During Recruiting portion of the internship, the intern’s responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

• Interfacing with candidates and hiring managers in coordinating and scheduling activities related to the recruiting and hiring process

• Posting internal and external job opportunities on various internet job boards and social media sites

• Assist in the administration of Jobvite, Rue La La’s applicant tracking system.

• Work with Recruiters in all areas to conduct competitive analysis, research and name generation

• Assist in the administration of Interview Skills training

• Participate in phone and in person interviews

• Assist in sourcing candidates for various roles

The L&D portion of the internship will include a number of projects to support the overall L&D strategy at Rue La La. Examples could include:

•Collection and Analysis of Course Evaluations – There are a number of new initiatives being developed and facilitated, and this project would involve the compilation of collected data, assimilation of themes, and a suggested changes for future sessions.

•Course content – depending on needs in teams and/or the organization, this project would involve research on companies, books, articles, case studies and potential guest speakers on the topic.

•Growing talent – part of one of our key tenets, this idea has been brainstormed and a number of great ideas now need implementation. This project would include research and working with the correct internal/external resources to implement and track progress against ideas.

Additional work could include augmenting the L&D communication strategy, brainstorming new ways to offer learnings and content, and best methods of tracking and analyzing success of L&D opportunities.
