LifeWork Search (www.lifeworksearch.com) is an MRI Network affiliate, the world's largest management and professional search firm with over 1,100 offices in 36 countries. Our office ranked in the top 25% of our 1,100 global offices in 2010. Our office specializes in Supply Chain within Consumer Goods.

Overview of the internship/coop objectives:
The intern will be heavily involved in internet research, entering information into our database, and posting information to certain websites. At that same time, they will gain valuable insight to Supply Chain and/or Recruiting as a profession. This role will also deal heavily with Excel, experience using Excel is preferred.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Most of the duties and responsibilities of the intern will be based from our computer database. The student will assist the Office Manager with ongoing database maintenance tasks, helping to make our database efficient and profitable. He/she will be responsible for use of websites such as Linkedin (a professional networking site), Indeed and Monster to search for possible companies and candidates, and heavy use of search engines like Google, to research missing contact information.

What will the student learn from this experience?

The student will get a good understanding of both the Supply Chain and Consumer Goods industries. This position will help to better the student’s organizational and research skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Applications. The intern will also get an in-depth look into the professional world. As we help supply chain professionals take their careers to the next level, the intern will learn the ins and outs of the job searching / interviewing process – giving them a much better understanding of exactly what employers are looking for. This internship can be a great stepping stone into their own career.

Academic preparation of the student required (graduate, senior, junior, courses taken, GPA, etc.):

Junior or Senior with an ultimate interest in Supply Chain, Operations / Operations Management, or Sales would likely get the most out of an internship at LifeWork Search.

Skills required:

Student must be internet savvy, have good time management skills and be familiar with Microsoft applications. Excel skills a must, and must have a working knowledge of Word and Outlook.

Primary duties and responsibilities: Work as the technical assistance for AJG in regard to Gallagher Koster’s Information Technology services. Assist the GK IT team in managing daily IT tasks including but not limited to setting up computers, troubleshooting computer issues such as Virus/Spyware infection, hardware problems, network connectivity etc, building web form by using our web service, processing and analyzing dataset by using SQL query and MS Access, researching data issues, writing and modifying PHP code to achieve some basic functions.


What will the student learn from this experience? Will learn the operation of our IT department; Practical knowledge of web programming with database interaction; Skill sets of comparing complicated data with tools like excel, access, SQL etc; Knowledge of troubleshooting, analyzing and solving any kind of computer issue; Policy and procedure of HIPAA, 201CMR17 (Mass Data Security) and other IT security measurement.

Summer 2011 Organizing Internship

About the Challenge:
The Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance (SEEAL) is launching the SouthCoast Energy Challenge to
engage and mobilize residents to become more thoughtful and efficient energy consumers. The program is aims
to reduce fossil fuel-based energy consumption by 15% among 35,000 SouthCoast households, over 3 years.
This approximately 120 million pound reduction in carbon dioxide emissions is equivalent to taking about
10,000 cars off the road! The Challenge will promote individual action as well as friendly competition among
towns, schools, businesses, congregations, and nonprofits. In Summer 2011, the Energy Challenge will launch in
Greater New Bedford.

SEEAL lead partners in the Challenge include: Marion Institute, Bristol Community College, University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth Office of Sustainability, Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development
District (SRPEDD), Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership (SEMAP), and the Ocean Explorium.
SEEAL is a program fund of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts.

Internship Description:
The primary focus of the SouthCoast Energy Challenge Outreach & Organizing Interns will be to aid in the
logistics of program launch and promotion. The successful interns will work closely with the Program
Coordinators to organize and promote the Challenge. While some of the work will be in the SEEAL office, the
Organizing team will be expected to be primarily in the community at large--tabling at events, canvassing, etc.

Primary Responsibilities:
Event tabling and neighborhood canvassing
Manage systems for recording and tracking registrants, leaders, and overall campaign progress
Organize activists to build local Action Committees
Work closely with team to design and create organizing materials
Participate in key campaign events such as press conferences, activist group meetings, and street actions

Desired Qualifications:
A demonstrated interest in energy and sustainability-related issues
Eagerness for learning and practicing grassroots organizing skills
Excellent social skills
Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders, both individually and as a team

Beginning Monday, June 6th, and concluding Wednesday, August 31, 2011, the schedule will be entail 25 hours

Filming events, conducting interviews, and crafting
Editing and posting completed film shorts to YouTube
Blogging and other social media management
Work with local media outlets to establish Energy Challenge pathways for publicity

Desired Qualifications:
Background in film and digital media
Demonstrated computer skills, including film editing software & Microsoft Office
Creative writing and editing skills
Interest in energy and sustainability-related issues

Timeline & Compensation:
