Sports Management Internships

Many of our students are interested in interning for a professional sports team.  I can tell you from speaking to representatives from these teams and from professionals in the field, it is a very tough field to break into.  Internships are key but they are often unpaid and require long hours. Over the past 7 or 8 years, we have had interns working for the Boston Bruins, Providence Bruins, Boston Celtics, various AHL hockey teams, the Cape Cod Baseball League, Pawtucket Red Sox, the Kraft Sports Group, WEEI Sports Radio, and the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame.  I am interested in hearing from CCB students and alumni who have had successful.

Also, if you are interested in sports management careers, keep your eyes open for job fairs that focus on that field.  There is usually one held at Gillette Stadium and if I see an announcement for that, I will post it on the blog.  You should also continue to search Indeed.com, Monster.com etc. for opportunities.  Here's one I found today that is with the Red Sox.  It is for someone who is a graduate and has some experience (they will recognize internship experience).  Notice that it is a paid tryout with the Red Sox organization.  That is quite typical of how these opportunities are structured.
