Is attention to detail one of your great strengths? Do you excel at keeping things organized? Have a clear, effective writing style (with a little creative flair)? We are looking for a bright, hard-working college student to join our Human Resources team, supporting our department’s Professional Development initiative, while also lending a hand to employee communications.

The Human Resources department designs and delivers programs, practices, and processes to meet the needs of Commonwealth and its employees. Through innovative and solid people-oriented programs, Commonwealth is able to hire and retain the absolute best talent.

As a professional development assistant, your responsibilities would include: Scheduling, coordination, and tracking

Updating all training courses in the Learning Management System and the internal SharePoint site

Updating course registration procedures for reference sheets and e-mails

Working with internal subject matter experts to schedule classes and programs; sending invites and maintaining distribution lists for training programs

Sending out evaluation surveys for training courses and archiving old surveys

Sending out and tracking all required new employee training

Producing the weekly training calendar and weekly food order calendar for Office Services

Coordinating administration of Common Knowledge, our orientation program for new employees, by working with Corporate Marketing to update calendars and schedules, inviting presenters, and maintaining participant list

Updating training-tracking spreadsheets and metric reports

Assisting with training tasks for the team as needed

Employee communications

Assisting with writing, formatting, and obtaining approvals on a variety of employee-oriented communications (employee events, Giving Back, benefits, training, etc.)

Sending a welcome e-mail to all new employees, gathering information from the employee and the manager in order to put together the new employee’s staff bio

Taking new employees' photos for PeopleLink, and maintaining the database of pictures

Updating and posting open positions on our intranet, public site, and external job boards

The ideal candidate would also meet the following requirements:

Detail-oriented

Excellent organization skills

Phenomenal oral and written communication skills

Ability to work independently, as well as with a team

Strong computer skills

Strong multitasking skills—while maintaining focus

Excellent customer service skills

Please note: This internship is full-time for the months of June, July, and August and 10–15 hours during the semester.
