Macy’s, Inc. is one
of the nation’s premier retailers, with fiscal 2012 sales of $27.7 billion. The
company operates the Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s brands with about 840 department
stores in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico, and the
macys.com and bloomingdales.com websites. The company also operates 12
Bloomingdale’s Outlet stores. By focusing on a culture of growth and innovation,
Macy’s has accelerated sales, established a national footprint, and become
America’s premier omnichannel retailer. Our progress and success are rooted in
our customer-centric business model which embraces localization and strives to
achieve a seamless omnichannel blending of in-store, online, and mobile customer
experiences.
Our localization strategy, called "My Macy's”, has been an
important stimulus to our growth. The “My Macy’s” initiative allows us to
custom-tailor the merchandise assortment offered at each Macy’s store to meet
the size needs, color preferences, climate conditions, and fashion tastes of
customers in each unique geographic area. Building upon the localization
concept, Macy’s recently launched the “My Macy’s 2.0” initiative which will put
even greater emphasis on tailoring the merchandise assortment at special
small-volume stores while placing extra emphasis on the omnichannel blended
shopping experience.
