Wayfair is the largest online-only retailer of home furnishings and house wares in the United States. Our Engineering Team is looking for talented summer 2014 Interns who want broad exposure to the technologies that support our infrastructure and our large-scale Internet e-commerce platform. We offer an opportunity for talented individuals to get on board with an organization that has similar potential to Amazon, eBay and Google.

  • Providing first level support to Wayfair employees for all technical concerns including initial incident response, diagnosis, and escalation
  • Ability to learn and interpret current and future monitoring systems
  • Support site performance in line with expectations and business growth
  • Complying with Workforce management (WFM) scheduling to ensure coverage
  • Swiftly and seamlessly transitioning  issues to second level support when applicable
  • Maintaining a persistent point of contact between business and technology staff
  • Proving feedback and making proposals to improve support processes
  • Taking ownership of short and long term projects in parallel with customer support and system management
  • Preparing, repairing and deploying desktop computers and other office equipment as needed
  • Offering On Call support (1 week a quarter)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft technologies: XP, Windows 7, Office 2010
  • Apple OSX, Unix/Linux knowledge/interest a plus
  • Experience with network diagnostic tools: ping, traceroute, dig, etc
  • Understanding of SQL usage and syntax
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring software: Nagios, Graphite, SCOM, Zabbix
