Internship Description:
During the accounting internship assignment, the intern works for a period of up to four (4) months and participates in various accounting and auditing engagements and tax assignments under the supervision and guidance of highly experienced firm personnel.  The intern receives an intensive, fast paced introduction to our firm’s audit and tax compliance services and develops a basic understanding of public accounting and the firm. 

Education Requirements:

·         Must be enrolled in a degree program with major field of study in accounting
·     Junior or Senior level standing in the fall 2014 semester.  Graduate students are also eligible to apply
·         Effective written and oral communication skills
·         Knowledge of accounting theory and principles with practical application
·         Basic knowledge of work paper format
·         Proficient in Excel and Word
·         Work effectively with all others in the firm



Personal and Professional Responsibilities:

Participate in audit assignments under the supervision and guidance of firm personnel. 

  • Primary Duties / Responsibilities: Audit
  • Fieldwork – important to understand how to properly reference workpapers   (envelope method
  •   Inventory field work
  •  Foot and tie financial statements
  • Link financial statements 
  • Trial Balance import – converting the files for TB import, especially QuickBooks files that need text-to-column
  •  Depreciation schedules for small business; input into ProFX
  • Enter liabilities
  • Scan workpapers
  • Confirmations
  • Create / prepare engagement letters
  • Work in Accounting Groups
  • Trial Balance Inputting
  • Field work at client sites
  •  Assist professional staff with gathering information for reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
  •  Become more familiar with the firm’s computer technology, with actual hands-on experience
  • Develop a greater understanding of public accounting and the firm
  • Participate in monthly firm meetings
  • Work effectively with all others in the firm

Participate in tax assignments under the supervision and guidance of firm personnel. 

  • Primary Duties / Responsibilities: Tax

  •  Enter 1040’s
  • New client set-ups; set up binder and enter fixed assets
  • Preparation of tax organizers for submission and review by firm staff
  • Preparation of basic individual tax returns
  • Preparation of individual, corporate and partnership tax extensions
  • Prepare 1099’s
  • Enter fixed assets
  • Organize documents
  • Research
  • Create spreadsheets
  • Assist professional staff with gathering information for reports and tax returns
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
