Description
Students can explore the Mutual Fund business as a part of our John
Hancock Funds Internship Program. This 10-week program offers summer
employment for individuals wishing to gain insight and invaluable
experience with some of the top professionals in the mutual fund business.

The Program:
Employment and on-the-job training: Internship placements include:
Treasury Oversight, Tax Department, Compliance and Vendor Management,
Portfolio and Cash Services, Financial Reporting, and Securities
Valuation Programming: Executive lunch and learn series will provide
a focused perspective on other aspects of the John Hancock Mutual
Fund Business Mentorship: Each intern will be assigned a senior level
mentor who will serve as a coach and will provide advice, counsel and
guidance.

Specific Position Description:

Portfolio and Cash Services is responsible for transferring the
assets of one portfolio to the next in an orderly and cost efficient
manner. Transfers of this type would occur with fund mergers, fund
substitutions, manager substitutions and new fund launches. This
typically involves coordinating the efforts of various service
providers and sub-advisers. In addition, the team is responsible for
identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance short-term cash
management opportunities and increase basis point performance. An
intern could be utilized help with the tracking of daily cash flows
to develop trends and metrics. In addition, they could help document
process flows and procedures.

Qualifications
* Entering sophomore, junior or senior year in an undergraduate program
* Interested in full-time employment in financial services after
graduation
* Highly motivated
* Demonstrated leadership
* Strong communication skills
* Excels academically; curriculum exposure to accounting, tax,
business process reviews, information technology, general management,
problem solving, analytics and regulatory reporting required.
* Available to participate in program from June 9-August 15, 2008
