Description
The major objective of the program is to provide talented young people of diverse backgrounds an opportunity to learn about John Hancock and to apply and enhance skills learned in their major course of study. John Hancock provides talented college students of diverse backgrounds an opportunity to be exposed to and learn about the company in an area where they can apply and enhance skills and knowledge through this 12-week summer internship program. This summer, John Hancock will celebrate the program's 21st year.

The internship consists of:


* Employment and on-the-job training: Past internship placements include: Creative Services, Community Relations, Long Term Care Sales Support, Program Management Office ­ Life Operations, Long Term Care IT Systems, John Hancock Institutional Operations, Financial Reporting ­ Mutual Funds, Signator Investors, International Group Programs


* Programming: General information about the company, its products and technology and other relevant business topics, opportunities to network with company employees as well as other interns

* Mentorship: Each intern will be assigned a mentor who will serve as a coach and will provide
advice, counsel and guidance. In turn, each intern will act as a mentor to a Boston high-school student taking part in the company's Summer of Opportunity program


Responsibilities of this position:
* Responding to Customer Inquiries on the dedicated loop line
* Implementation of the Selling Agreement with the broker / dealer
* Appointing the agents in the states they'll be selling annuities
* Maintenance of agent records
* Problem resolution when New business cannot be applied
* Communication & Coordination with teams in
Manila and Toronto regarding daily processing
* Delivery of Daily, Weekly & Monthly
commissions to almost 2000 different broker / dealers
* Adjustment of commissions due to product updates, or errors
* Research / Problem resolution

Qualifications:

· A strong attention to detail
· Excellent customer service skills
· Ability to multi-task
· The ability to think on your feet / proactive problem solving
· A Positive Attitude

Skills which will be developed during internship:
An internship within the Licensing and Commissions area provides an opportunity to see where the process begins and ends with Annuities while expanding your knowledge of our operations area and gaining exposure to areas throughout the company. Strong attention to detail, excellent customer service, time management and extensive problem solving are just several of the many transferable skills which will be developed during the internship.
