Welcome to Fall 2013!
Here's some Internship News.
If you want to receive email alerts of postings to the blog, enter your email address in the box on the right hand side of the blog and click submit. Then each day you will receive a summary email of postings to the blog. This is a great way to keep on top of internship openings that may be of interest to you so you can respond quickly with a resume.
In the last 45 days, I have posted more than a several dozen opportunities (45 in August alone!) on the blog.
As you poke around the blog, be sure to not only review the postings from the past week, but also take a look at the archives as some opportunities are listed there and are still open. Here (below) are some examples of what is on the blog RIGHT NOW. You can learn more about these possibilities by visiting the blog.

There are many more opportunities on the blog and more will be posted in the early days of the Fall semester. You should get the email alerts or bookmark the blog and visit often.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please respond quickly as we are in competition with students from many other colleges.
Put your best foot forward with a solid resume and cover letter. If you need help with your resume, contact David LePage of the Career Development Center (dlepage1@umassd.edu) to schedule an appointment. David will be having office hours in the Charlton Building and the
Career Development Center this semester.
Keep in mind that as soon as you "land" one of these opportunities and if you want to earn credit, you need to get back in touch with me to make arrangements for enrollment into one of the "399" internship sections... that's how you earn credit for an internship in the college
of business. You must work at least 135 hours during the fall semester and complete your weekly assignments - including work journals, reflective writing assignments, term paper, etc.
You should also consider using other online resources to search for great internships as there are many opportunities that I am not aware of. Most of what lands on the blog are from local companies, agencies, and nonprofits but there are entities in the Providence and Boston metropolitan areas that post opportunities on web sites. You can use Indeed.com or Simplyhired.com to search out those leads. In addition, you may want to use the Careerlink portal maintained by UMD's Career Development Center and to meet and discuss with David LePage (dlepage1@umassd.edu) strategies for identifying good internship possibilities.
Keep in mind that the Career Development Center is hosting the Work 'n Serve Job Fair on this Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 10am-2pm in Woodland Commons. You can visit: http://www.umassd.edu/career/newsevents/
to see a list of companies and agencies in attendance at this year's event. This is billed as your one-day, one-stop opportunity to find:
•Internships
•On/Off Campus Work-Study
•On-Campus Employment (Non-Work-Study)
•Off-Campus Part-Time Employment
•Paid Community Service Opportunities
Please call 508.999.8658 (UMD Career Development Center) if you have any questions about Work N Serve. I share some thoughts on the Work N Serve and internship possibilities in this link.
