Good experience/resume item for accounting major

Though this is not an internship, it could be a great experience and a fine resume item for the right accounting major. The organization Centro Comunitario de Trabajadores, CCT, a new 501(c)(3) needs some help with their accounting.  This is a Maya group based in New Bedford that works to serve their community through cultural events, preservation of their skills by producing (weaving) traditional clothes, political initiatives, etc.

They are looking for someone to do their books. They are not very complicated but they want someone who is NOT a member of the organization to do it.This would be for pay but the amount of pay is not known.  That topic would be discussed in an interview.  They are looking for a student who knows enough to set up and manage Quickbooks for them --probably to come in once a week for a few hours.

It is highly preferable that the person speaks Spanish so she/he could communicate easilywith them.  Dr. Tim Shea of the MIS department is helping Centro Comunitario de Trabajadores with this effort,  Interested students should send their resumes to: tshea@umassd.edu.
