Nonprofit Marketing/Outreach Internship (Unpaid)

We have openings for two Volunteer Research & Marketing Developers. (We also have two openings for Volunteer Outreach Assistants, which may be more suited towards Sociology majors, however, all are encouraged to apply if interested. They learn the functions of the organization, develop and maintain a detailed event calendar, set up resource tables & distribute prevention campaign materials at Greater Fall River school functions, community & civic events and health fairs. They must have transportation, be able to lift and carry materials, possess a professional demeanor & speak well in public. Company Description:

BOLD, a subsidiary of SSTAR
is a substance abuse prevention coalition comprised of community volunteers, agency representatives, educators, city government, school representatives and youth. We are all working together to create a healthy community for our young people .We use evidence-based programs and practices to accomplish our objectives. We currently have subcommittees and an Advisory Board. The Advisory Board is made up of the Chair and Vice-Chair and Treasurer of the Coalition as well as representatives from key sectors in the community.

The Mission of the BOLD Coalition is to prevent and reduce alcohol and drug abuse among youth by collaborating with the community to initiate policy change, raise awareness, modify social norms, educate youth and adults, and promote healthy activities.

Sales & Marketing:

We have a grant that we have to match via in-kind. Therefore, what we “sell” is our free presentations on prevention and our free courses. We have to develop all of our own Facebook, Website, Press-Releases, Newspaper Ads & Fliers.
Primary duties & responsibilities: The students will learn:
To research and identify the most effective incentives (incentives being give-aways, take-aways and freebies) and advertising materials.
To develop advertising materials according to their research on effectiveness.
To research and redesign our Facebook and Website.
To research and identify the most effective prevention materials for our outreach.
Job Title: Research & Marketing Developer
Primary Supervisor: Craig Gaspard LICSW MPA
Contact: Maureen Brisson at 508-235-7032Hours: 8-20 hours a week per student. Flexible, to add up to 135 hours to fulfill the internship requirement at BCC/UMASS.
Start & End Date: Now until completion of the 135 hours.
Skills required: Must pass a CORI & Drug Screening. Have working knowledge of Facebook, research, development and marketing techniques and be able to identify most effective materials and incentives in the drug prevention field across multiple demographics.
