Job Description
The primary role of this
position is to assist the Accounting Department with their day to day
activities using the Great Plains accounting system. Duties include the following:
1.
Record voids in
the accounts receivable and accounts payable systems as freight bills are
removed by the freight carriers and no longer due.
2.
Record credit memos
in the accounts receivable and accounts payable systems as freight bills are
updated by the freight carriers with lower amounts due.
3.
Process payments
received by customers in the accounts receivable system.
4.
Prepare bank deposits
for checks received by customers.
5.
Assist in the analysis
of variances between actual financial results and budgeted amounts by preparing
excel worksheets and identifying the underlying reasons.
6.
Prepare general ledger
journal entries as requested.
7.
Record payment related
notes in freight bill system as needed.
8.
Establish receivable and
payable records when refunds to customers are needed.
9.
Other items identified
as knowledge level improves.
Requirements
The
ideal candidate is a junior or senior accounting major, has successfully
completed intermediate and cost accounting, is experienced with Excel
worksheets, and resides within the general local area on a full time basis.
The
Controller and Senior Accounting Analyst will provide the primary and day to
day direction respectively.
Schedule
/ Compensation
This
part-time position will begin in June 2014 and will continue at least through
May 2015. The company is flexible
regarding the weekly work schedule but will expect 10 to 15 hours per week
depending on weekly work flow. The rate
of pay for this position is $10.00 per hour.
