Marketing/Communications Intern - PAID - On Campus


Job Title: Marketing/Communications Intern
Office: UMass Dartmouth Marketing & Public Affairs Departments

Description:
The offices of Marketing & Public Affairs, both of which report directly to the Chancellor, are collectively responsible for coordinating the strategic communications and advocacy strategies of UMass Dartmouth. The offices oversee media relations, publications, photographics, and web development. 

Primary Responsibilities

·         Draft social media posts for main UMassD accounts and set timelines/schedules for posts

·         Compile media lists and track down specific media contacts

·         Track press release publication and story placement

·         Assist in distributing press releases to local media outlets

·         Draft, review, and edit media advisories and press releases

·         Take part in webinars on marketing, communications, and social media and prepare reports on findings for marketing and public affairs staff

·         Attend events and meetings with public affairs/marketing staff

·         Write feature stories and profiles that may be used on website or in publications.

Education and Experience
Undergraduate or Graduate student interested in marketing and/or media relations

Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong Social Media skills and abilities
  • Strong Research skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be responsible for a variety of tasks
  • Ability to meet deadlines

Hours of work:

10-15/week

Start and end dates:

February 2014-July 2014
