Outreach intern (unpaid)

This is an interesting internship for the right candidate.  If you are a marketing major you might find this to be a good leraning experience in a nonprofit setting.

Organization:

 
Catholic Social Services (CSS) has proudly served the community since 1924. CSS’ service scope has broadened to serve the many needs in our area with services that:
  • promote improving quality of life for the poor and those in need
  • strengthen individuals and families
  • advocate for social justice from offices in Fall River, New Bedford and Hyannis
 
Duties:
-Outreach/Marketing for Catholic Social Services’ Immigration Law Programs, specifically to raise awareness about free naturalization and deferred action for childhood arrivals workshops and services.
 
-Travel to local businesses, community centers, health centers, high schools, community colleges, universities and more to share information and raise awareness throughout Bristol and Barnstable Counties
 
-Help design and share flyers and informational handouts

Learning Objectives:

-Familiarity with some immigration laws
-Experience working in a law office and a not-for-profit
-Experience with an outreach/marketing campaign across a large area
-Getting to know local communities and raising awareness
 
Job Title: Outreach Intern (Unpaid)
 
Academic Preparation: Either marketing, language, or pre-law classes
 
Skills: Computer competency, especially Word; Spanish and/or Portuguese written and spoken fluency a plus; ability to travel
 
Hours: 6-10 hrs/week
 
Start: Immediately
 
End: December 13th, 2012 (extendable through Spring Semester)
