Internship Description
Description of the company including the mission, location, sales and market coverage. JKB Management and Booking is dedicated exclusively to promoting and booking national, regional and local bands and musicians at various venues throughout New England. Our primary market coverage is Southeastern Massachusetts/Boston, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. We also oversee Limelight Magazine, a quarterly publication that provides in-depth coverage of the New England music scene.
Our current website is www.limelightmagazine.com, but needs an upgrade.
We are looking for two interns for the fall 2011 semester (see below). Previous interns have been hired at the Standard Times and Warwick Beacon.
Job Title: Website Design Intern
Primary duties and responsibilities:
• Artistic design and building of website.
• Creating user interfaces.
• Website Maintenance, graphic enhancements.
What will the student learn from this experience (list 4 or 5 learning objectives)?This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to design a website within a prescribed theme while still having control over the project from start to finish. This internship will help the student get his/her feet wet in the design world, helping him/her decide whether or not this is the right career choice. It will cover valuable topics including: creating a work plan, good website structure, and learning on the job experiences related to a business discipline.
Skills:
• Expertise with relevant software and web design tools.
• Knowledge of HTML/CSS coding.
• Familiar with WordPress.
• Proficient knowledge of web design and internet security.
• Energetic and assertive, prepared to not only follow direction, but also proactively provide design and communication ideas.
• Ability to work under deadlines and work independently as well as on a team.
• Detail oriented.
