Welcome Back from Internship Director

Hi CCB Majors:

Welcome back.  Here's some quick internship news.

I just re-posted an internship in Quincy, MA that is open to all majors.  Although they have a few good candidates, the employers wants a larger base of resumes to choose from so they have extended the deadline. Go to http://businessinternships.blogspot.com/2011/01/repost-of-position-internship-in-quincy.html

There is a local nonpaid internship posting with the Dartmouth Education Foundation.  Go to: http://businessinternships.blogspot.com/2011/01/dartmouth-education-foundation-def.html

For sports fans and sports management types, I have postings for summer internships with NESN and the Pawtucket Red Sox.  Visit the blog for more info: http://businessinternships.blogspot.com/

JJ Best in New Bedford is still looking for an accounting intern (paid). See http://businessinternships.blogspot.com/2011/01/accounting-intern.html

KLR, a regional CPA firm headquartered in Providence, will be interviewing on campus for Fall 2011 internships, in early March.   If you are interested, send your cover letter and resume to Steven Loffredo, Human Resources Manager at KLR.  Steve's email address is:  sloffredo@KahnLitwin.com A few days ago I send the position description to all sophomore, junior and senior accounting majors.  If you didn't get that, let me know and I can send it again.  CCB will be hosting campus intreviews for the KLR internships on March 4, 2011.

If you are thinking about summer internships, now is the time to start looking and sending our resumes.  Read my blog page on how to land a great internship.  It can be found at: http://businessinternships.blogspot.com/p/how-to-land-excellent-internship.html

I have also written a book on business internships.  Information on the book can be found at: http://businessinternships.blogspot.com/p/internship-book.html

Keep in mind that we do not grant internship credit for past work experience, that you cannot enroll in the internship course without my approval, and that you cannot work for relatives in an internship.  If you are interested in internships, please learn how our program works.  It is detailed at:  http://www.umassd.edu/charlton/internship/

Email me your questions, stop by my office (CCB-318), or call me at 910-6947.  You can also follow my internship tweets at bizinternships and my Facebook carries internship content with a special page devoted to business internships. Finally, our program recently got some attention on the InternshipKing.com blog.  You may want to check out that site if you are looking for information on national internships.
