Job Description General Information Finance Summer Internship Program is designed to give undergraduate students exposure to different departments and teams that fall under the Finance division. The departments include Corporate Finance (Corporate Accounting, Corporate Advisory Services, and Global Accounting Policy), Business Line Finance (Securities Finance, Investor Services Finance, Global Realty Finance, IT Finance, and SSGM Finance), Corporate Taxes, Global Strategy, Global Treasury, Structured Products and Strategic Sourcing. Students who meet the program criteria and who are accepted into the program are assigned to a specific position within one of these departments based on their experience, skills, and professionalism as well as how well they present themselves during the interview for consideration into the program. The internship provides an opportunity for students to learn about the financial services industry and to experience the corporate environment first hand. Through on-the-job experience, interns develop their business, financial and analytical skills. Interns have opportunities to learn about various State Street jobs and career paths that align with their field of study and majors. The Finance Summer Internship Program is very structured. Performance objectives are identified for each participant, based on their assignment. Interns participate in weekly team meetings. They are expected to prepare a PowerPoint presentation about their department and present to the intern team. In addition, each intern writes a paper assessing the program. These activities are aimed at developing or improving business communication skills. During the 10 weeks, interns also have opportunities to learn more about State Street and develop skills through several offerings which include a Speaker Series, Development Days, Bloomberg training, and access to hundreds of online courses. They can network by attending Town Hall meetings and a Global Outreach volunteer event. We seek well-rounded college undergraduate students with a combination of academic aptitude, proven leadership capabilities, and excellent communication skills. Qualifications -Currently enrolled in college undergraduate program and entering sophomore, junior or senior year -Majoring in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other financial disciplines; Business majors are accepted for positions in Strategic Sourcing -Minimum GPA of 3.2 -Demonstrated interest and competency in finance -Balance of academics with involvement in college activities, clubs, and organizations as well as community involvement
