Serious business students are always looking for ways to gain more practical experience before hitting the full-time job market. I have often recommended look at temporary assignments with a temp agency. Take the example of an accounting major who doesn't necessarily want public accounting and is exploring other branches of accounting. The Accountant will be responsible for matching invoices to purchase orders and/or vouchers, data entry and assisting in the process of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. This fast-paced environment offers a great work space and excellent core accounting experience. This position will report to the Accounting Manager. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is a must. Candidates with 1-2 years of recent Accounting or Finance internship experience will be strongly considered. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is expected; familiarity with additional software programs is valued. Entry level Accountant for this role should have strong communication, customer service and organizational skills.
