Location: 195 Chestnut Street, North Attleboro MA 02760
Our firm focuses on tax and tax planning for individuals and small businesses. Although we have many clients throughout the United States, many of our clients are within a 50 mile radius of our office.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
What will the student learn from this experience (list 4 or 5 learning objectives)?
In summary, the student will learn to prepare individual income tax returns. With that however will come an education on various tax laws, and strategies in an effort to minimize clients tax liabilities. Student will be communicating with clients directly, and be working both independently and in a small group setting. As the student begins to grasp basic tax return and is comfortable with software and surroundings, new tax situations will be introduced.
Additionally, student will be asked to perform other administrative task as well. Our firm is a small office. As result we operate in a team approach. This means that everyone pitches in and does what's needed. Whether that be answering phones, assembling tax returns, filing, or other small administrative tasks that may come up.
Job Title:
Entry Level Staff
Academic preparation of the student required (graduate, senior, junior, courses taken, GPA, etc.):
All are welcome to apply. Our best success however has been to identify a sophomore or junior and have them return for a second and possibly third tax season. By allowing that much exposure to tax season, and working with them longer, the students have been able to step into very lucrative job offers, and have been extremely prepared for the 'big firms'
Skills required:
Student should be comfortable working on a computer and a windows environment. Typing skills a must. Student should have good organization skills, and be able to work under pressure and deadlines.
Hours of work:
Flexible. We are typically open mon-thursday 8am - 9pm/fri and saturday 8am -5pm. We can be flexible with hours and schedule, however in my experience, it would be necessary that the appropriate candidate be able to work 18-20 per week minimum. Anything less, there simply isn't enough time being spent here that the student will benefit, and we will be able to educate/train.
Start and end dates:
Start date Approximately February 1
End date approximately April 15th
