Internship, Service Learning, or Community Service Project

Hi CCB Majors:

I have received the following description of a project that could be an excellent experience for a business student.  It is probably most appropriate for a marketing student but any major who would be interested in helping launch a community foundation can apply.

Here are the details from Mrs. Golen who is trying to recruit some help.

The Dartmouth Community Park Foundation is seeking an energetic and creative intern to help develop a marketing plan to raise funds to develop  a new community park.  This group is non-profit and has applied for grants and is seeking community support for the development of this park, which will be located on Dartmouth Street,  between The Southworth Library and Cushman School.  Experience with fund raising and/or non-profit organizations is helpful, but not necessary for the right individual.  Plans have been drawn and a budget is in place, but we need to raise additional funds from the community to enhance the existing program and to get the community more involved in the project. Individual and corporate financial contributions, as well as donations of materials, supplies and volunteers, among others are planned to be utilized in this endeavor.  The individual who fills this position will be responsible for attending some fund raising committee meetings (times are somewhat flexible), and developing new and innovative ideas to make this park a reality.  Current plans are to begin construction in the late Spring 2011.  Please submit resumes to djgolen@comcast.net and they will be reviewed as soon as possible.  This is an opportunity that really would look fantastic on a resume as we are attempting to keep the project as "green" and  handicap accessible while serving the largest number of people as possible.
