DESCRIPTION:
The position of the intern will act as a key support person for a Financial Advisor and the individual Waddell & Reed practice. This allows an intern the unique ability shadow the experience and see firsthand what it is like to run a Financial Planning practice while helping a Financial Advisor manage their practice.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Junior/Senior Marketing or Business related majors.
Availability Monday-Friday. Varied hours, yet flexible for student’s schedule.

NECESSARY SKILLS:

  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication, time-management and interpersonal skills; tact and confidentiality
  • Proficient computer skills; including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to handle varied work flow, deadlines and time constraints
  • Self-motivated and coachable with a desire to grow and learn.
  • Outgoing personality; sales ability/experience a plus

MARKETING DUTIES:
 

·         Learn about the financial services industry and related marketing efforts.
 

·         Learn about our Customer Relationship Management database program to retrieve key information, facilitate client contact plan and to create marketing related client lists.

·         Observe and participate in Social Media/Networking Web site activities and promotions using LinkedIn etc.

 
·         Participate in ongoing enhancements and updates to our Web site

 
·         Participate in and observe ongoing development of our Internet and Search Marketing initiatives.
 

·         Practice coordinating and developing sample marketing / recruiting plans.


·         Learn how to research potential new marketing services.

 
·         Observe and assist with development and preparation of marketing letters and materials for prospective clients.
 

·         Provide feedback in the maintenance of our marketing materials.
 

·         Learn how to perform a limited number of general office duties.
