MIS Project
Management Office Intern
Why Southcoast Health System?
Health
care information technology is a booming industry and continues to gain
momentum due to federal regulations requiring health care organizations to
implement Electronic Health Records (EHR), Computerized Provider Order Entry
(CPOE) and other electronic hospital-based incentive programs.
Besides
federal regulations, technology has become so prominent in every industry that
even health care customers are demanding it.
For example, physicians want to use mobile devices to enter in patient
orders, Nurse Managers want to use radio frequency identification devices to
determine how quickly a Nurse responded to a patient’s nurse call, patients
want patient portals where they can register themselves, make appointments,
and/or access all of their test results on demand.
The Management Information Systems (MIS) Division within
Southcoast Health System consists of multiple departments that currently
fulfill multiple organizational needs.
For example:
·
End-User Support – purchases, installs, configures all
laptops, PCs, and printers throughout the Health System. Also responsible for resolving end-user
issues (breakfix).
·

o Infrastructure

o Communications
·
Applications and Systems Development – over 150
applications
·
Clinical Engineering – over 15,000 clinical devices
