Pearson Learning Solutions Group is currently seeking candidates for our
2010 Summer Internship Program. This Program provides college students
who are interested in pursuing a career in educational media, technology
and publishing the opportunity to learn about our busienss and to gain
valuable experience as they determine their future career goals.

The Summer Internship Program runs from early June and continues for 8
weeks. Students must be able to commit to 8 weeks without interruption.
The work schedule is full-time (35 hours a week), Monday through Friday.
Pearson Interns are compensated at a competitive hourly rate.

Department Overview:
There are 3 (three) PLS Production Intern positions in a department that
produces more than 2,000 titles each year.

Job Description:
The Production Interns will manage selected custom textbooks which
includes creating detailed table of contents, formatting copyright
pages, preparing print-ready manuscripts, and updating the production
database as various tasks are completed.

As an Intern, you can expect to learn the basic procedures in book
publishing production. They also will learn how the various departments
interact.

Requirements for the 2010 Summer Internship Program include:

-Active enrollment in a Bachelor's Degree program at a 4 year College or
Univerity. Graduating seniors will be considered.
-Strong desire to pursue a career in the publishing industry after
graduation. Strong interest in educational media preferred.
-Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Experience with Photoshop preferred.
-Previous office/clerical experience preferred.
-Able to work independently after training.
-Ability to trouble-shoot problems.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks under extremely tight deadlines.
-Strong Macintosh skills preferred (primarily QuarkXPress, in Design and
MS Word).
-Experience with Adobe Acrobat and knowledge of file transfer is helpful.
-An interest in learning college textbook production processes and
excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills necessary.
