Description:
The Washington Center will be offering students fully-funded
internship positions with the Department of Transportation, Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) for the summer of 2008. Applications
will be accepted on a rolling basis through March and interested
candidates are encouraged to submit their materials as soon as possible.
Selected students will have the opportunity to work with regional FAA
offices (including Washington, DC; Fort Worth, TX; Wichita, KS;
Burlington, MA; and Kansas City, MO) while also participating in an
experiential training program focused on professional achievement,
leadership and civic engagement.
Positions are available in the Rotorcraft Directorate, Space Program,
Standards Staff Office, Aircraft Certification Program and other
related fields.

Engineering (Aerospace, Industrial, Electrical and Mechanical),
Aviation, Business (Business Administration, Finance, Management and
Accounting), Computer Science/Information Technology, Statistics
Qualifications*:
-Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an
accredited college or university (students who have applied for
graduate school and will enter in the fall of 2008 must show proof of
enrollment to be eligible)
-Be of junior status or above at the time of the internship (60
academic credit hours)
-Be a U.S. citizen
-Complete all components of the application
*All students who meet these criteria are eligible to apply; however,
Native American and Asian American students, as well as students with
disabilities, are strongly encouraged to apply.
Compensation:
Selected students will participate in The Washington Center program
at no charge and a stipend of $250/week will be awarded. Stipends are
based on a 36 hr work week and payroll is distributed on the 15th and
30th of each month. The Washington Center is the official employer
and must have I-9 and W-4 tax forms on file. Direct deposit is available.
Housing:
Housing is included with the program and arranged for by The
Washington Center. If students choose not to live in Washington
Center-provided housing, the stipend is increased to $550/wee.
