Boston Internship (Paid) Energy Company

Hi CCB rising juniors, juniors, and seniors:
Global Marine Energy, Inc. is looking for a bright CCB major to intern (paid) at its headquarters in Boston. Here are some details about this exciting opportunity. If you are interested, send Kelley Lynch your resume attached to a brief email that discusses you interest in the position. This is open to all CCB majors but I believe priority will be given to students with solid GPAs and in at least their junior year.

Here's the internship posting that I received a few days ago.

Global Marine Energy (globalmarine-energy.com) provides marine power cable planning, installation and maintenance services to utilities planning offshore installations as part of their grid build-out. We also work with consultancies and developers working in the emerging offshore renewable energy industry, as they develop wind, wave, and tidal energy production projects, bringing carbon-neutral energy to the grid.
Our roots go back over 160 years, originating with Global Marine Systems Limited (globalmarinesystems.com), the world’s largest independent provider of submarine cable services, and a pioneer in the field of subsea cabling. Global Marine Energy operates independently, but we draw on the experience and knowledge base built up by the cabling experts at Global Marine Systems. Global Marine Energy also has access to a full range of equipment required for installing and maintaining cabling, including ships, barges, and ROVs.
GME’s services encompass all aspects of preparing for, installing, and maintaining subsea inter-array, export, and inter-connect cabling. Our intention is to hire intern support to fulfil research and analysis functions within the company in support of these functions.
Although not exhaustive, the following list provides outlines the types of activities to be performed by an intern:
Assist in researching potential vendors & suppliers.
Research potential trade organizations that have the remit to attract vendors. (For example ADC, the Association of Diving Contractors International could be used as a source whereby dive companies come to us to apply to become approved suppliers.)
Research power cable manufacturers and their capabilities, especially as it relates to the US. Players in the market, cable types, production capacity, transportation requirements for shipping to US.
Data collation & organization arising from the return of completed vendor questionnaire forms.
Create a database containing all supplier information including name, contact, field of operations, embedded completed vendor questionnaire forms etc.
Convert GMSL UK policies, procedures including Health & Safety etc to a suitable format for GME Inc.
Create Master Document Register (MDR) collating the above into an approved QM document.
Research USA H&S law pertaining to OSHA, work out the differences between OSHA and the UK HSE requirements. I believe that the HSE requirements are more onerous and that id we adhere to those standards, we will be ok re OSHA.
COSHH. USA COSHH regulations are different than European standards. This needs researching and the ability to comply written into SOP.
Training, research legal requirements for offshore workers of each rank. E.g. STCW 95, USCG regulations etc.
Collate European wind farm & offshore worker training course syllabuses; work out what training is optimal for each rank.
Find out what training (if any) of those types is available in the US. E.g. confined spaces, tower access, small boat access, working at heights, rescue from heights, manual handling, sea survival, fire fighting etc.
From that create a document outlining what training courses we need to set up to ensure that we are able to obtain qualified safe offshore personnel.
Obtain costings for above courses. Liaison with unions and Mass Maritime Academy may be required.
In a nutshell, formulate GME Inc training strategy and create course curricula.
General offshore market research, keeping abreast of industry activity and keeping the Master Project list up to date.
Become familiar with GMSL’s Geocable software package, which will be set up in the Boston Office.
Research and catalogue State-Province permitting/seabed requirements.

Interns will be paid & managed in a manner commensurate with the policy at their respective College or University policy.
Interns will work a fixed set of hours at our Boston office location, 11 Beacon Street, Suite 910
