MIS Internship

Coastal Data Management, a local IT firm is looking for an intern to start as soon as possible.

Internship: Web/Programmer Assistant
Salary: $12.00/hr.

Requirements: Some knowledge of HTML and ASP programming required. General programming knowledge beneficial. Knowledge of MS Visual Studio, Javascript, MS-SQL, MS Access or ColdFusion would be helpful, but not required.

Tasks:
Main part of this work involves setup, support, maintenance and modifications of VPASP shopping cart, which is ASP based software. Work will be performed in both development and "live" sites.

Individual functions would include:

  • Installation and testing periodic security updates
  • Minor troubleshooting on client reported issues
  • Installation and testing of pre-written add on modules for shopping cart
  • Modification of existing code to provide client requested features
  • Setup and testing of various of various configuration options that are part
    of the standard software.

Other functions could also include:

  • Support for several ColdFusion based applications
  • Minor data entry
  • Monitoring routine functions such as backups and scheduled monthly reporting

Marketing Intern
A local non profit organization is looking for a marketing intern for the Spring Semester (starting in January). The organization is Downtown New Bedford, Inc.. It's vision is: "A healthy and active Downtown is vital to the City of New Bedford and its surrounding communities, therefore, Downtown New Bedford, Inc., is committed to enhancing the economic health of downtown New Bedford and as a partner of any public or private groups working for positive change. DNB is also dedicated to promoting a favorable environment for all residents and for the attraction and growth of small business."

Currently DNB has two major fundraising events: the Chowder Festival and the "Taste Our Southcoast" festival which took place for the first time last spring. Both events showcase local restaurants from the southcoast area and take place in downtown New Bedford at Custom House Square.

The intern would be responsible for developing a restaurant database, develop and implement a marketing /Recruitment Plan to be completed no later than April 1st and then participate in planning, developing and marketing the "Taste Our SouthCoast for June of 2008."

This is a paid position. The intern will be under the direction of the Executive Director of DNB and the Chair of the Events Committee.

The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra (NBSO) is interested in having a marketing major as an intern for the Spring 2008 semester. The NBSO intern will work on developing a marketing plan for a series of matinee concerts they are planning for the 2008/2009 season. Part-time Marketing Position for business student

COULD BE AN INTERNSHIP!
Pace Inc., a local nonprofit organization located in New Bedford, has a need for a junior or senior business student to work 20 hours per week ($10 per hour) performing outreach activities. These activities include
visiting local small businesses and providing information regarding enrollment into health insurance programs. You must be able to communicate well, have an outgoing personality, have your own transportation, and computer skills. This would be an ideal experience for a marketing major but other majors are welcome to apply. Some of the work will involve working with a computer enrollment system at PACE headquarters. Two or three days a week will be in the field while the other days will be in the office. The hours are noon – 4:00 pm or 1:00 to 5:00 pm. This position is funded under a six month grant and therefore the position is available through the end of the semester. It is also possible that a student could earn internship credit for this position, as long as all requirements of a CCB internship are met.

Our Sisters' School Internship Opportunities

Background:

In the fall of '08, a private all girls middle school, called Our Sisters' School, will open its doors to 32 young girls entering the fifth and sixth grades. There are many operational components to launch this huge
endeavor, one of which involves a marketing program geared towards generating community awareness and support, as well as teacher and students recruitment.

Project:

The basis of a marketing plan has been written to take us through the launch of the school in the fall. The plan includes many integrated marketing components that need to be created, implemented, and managed to support the school.

Our goal would be to create a team of young marketing professionals who would work together, under the supervision of professionals on the Our Sisters' School Marketing Committee, to implement our marketing plan with a future goal of putting a plan in place that could take Our Sister School through the next 3 – 5 years.

A team would need to consist of both marketing and creative expertise to support the creation and implementation of the many recommended marketing applications of the plan.

Targets: New Bedford community including prospective families, students/ teachers and potential corporate sponsors and OSS stakeholders

Prospective Marketing Team:
Team leader – project manager
Designer - advertising, collateral, point of purchase and event display
materials
Writer – advertising, collateral, point of purchase and event display materials
Web specialist – website management
Event coordinator – logistics and trouble shooting

Internships available: January 2008 – September 2008. These are paid
internships.
