The Sylvia Group is looking for a business intern to work approximatley 8-15 hours a week and this could be a paid position. The job will involve various duties to be discussed in more detail at the interview. Good computer/software skills, a desire to learn about the insurance business, and a can do attitude required. Should be at least junior standing. This position could extend through the summer and would qualify for internship credit (assuming you also take and complete the summer internship course.)

Textron Coporation, a large multi-national corporation headquartered in Providence, RI, will have several internship positions be open this May (2013) in their Corporate Controllers Department – (2 positions) Benefits Finance Group and (1 position) Government Accounting and Compliance Group.
They are looking for students that will be able to commit to long term internship (desired time period is 1-2+ years). These are paid positions in downtown Provience. Ideal candidates will be (this coming 2013 fall semester) sophomore/juniors. Rising seniors should apply if they will be going to graduate school full time upon completion of their senior year. Textron would like to hire as soon as possible to ensure some overlap for training. 1. JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting members of the Controller’s department, in both daily activities and special projects to learn, understand and gain experience related to compensation & benefits, pensions/ health & welfare, and/or US government accounting & compliance.
Position is year-round, part-time (up to 25 hours) during school semesters (flexible schedule) and full-time (up to 40 hours) during breaks. Possibility for occasional weekend work or overtime on an infrequent basis.
2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist with collection of compensation and benefit data from divisions and other departments; consolidate as necessary and prepare report submissions.
• Assist with general ledger account reconciliations.
• Assist in the monthly closing process as needed.
• Create and maintain various financial reporting spreadsheets.
• Participate in special projects as needed.
3. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Successful candidate will be trained to use Lawson general ledger software and Hyperion Financial Management financial reporting software. Candidate will also be exposed to general ledger activity, pensions/health & welfare, compensation & benefits, government accounting, and some SEC reporting based upon the relevant group (Benefits or Government).

Purpose: The purpose of this position is to support the successful operation of ‘g’ Green Design Center while providing hands-on experience for the intern in the field of green building and design.
Intern works directly with the President and Showroom Manager to assist on project and showroom management. ‘g’ Green Design Center is also involved with a sustainable business network on the Cape, Cape & Islands Green. The summer intern is involved in these special projects and assist in social media, marketing, and business network development.
Skills Required: Background in interior design, and/or construction. Some knowledge of sustainable design preferred. Computer fluency – Mac: Office Suite, Sketch-Up. We will teach POS system.
Daily Activities:
• Prepare purchase orders/Receive products
• Manage operation of Lightspeed (Point of sale software), including product/supplier data
• Assist President and Showroom Manager with administrative tasks
Project Coordination
• Organization/administrative support
• Answer phone
Support Sales Team
• Prepare and send jobs for bid
• Prepare quotes for customers as requested by Sales
