ACCOUNTING INTERNSHIP

Sharkansky and Company, a CPA firm located in Brockton, Massachusetts, is looking to hire an accounting intern. This is a small firm with 15-20 employees and 5 partners. The firm serves a variety of industries and clients.

They are looking for a junior or senior accounting major to perform tasks related to financial statement preparation, tax return work, and auditing procedures. You must have an interest in public accounting.


Responsibilities will include:

Preparing schedules and reconciliations using Microsoft Excel.
Foot and cross footing of financial statements
Creating financial reports electronically
Preparing tax returns using CCH Engagement and Pro FX

Wages will be competitive. Flexible schedule available during semester.

Description:
Under guidance from experienced professionals, this position will provide support across several functions within Human Resources – specifically Recruiting and Benefits.

Recruiting:
· Participate in the redesign of the careers section of the corporate website.
· Attend career fairs as a representative of Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc.
· Write and edit content for the Diversity Newsletter
· Design and build a College Recruiting Database
· Design and build a Recruiting Agency Database
· Assist with the implementation of an Applicant Tracking System
Benefits:
· Assist with the coordination of wellness activities
· Design and build a database/list/marketing materials for discount programs
· Audit vendor reports and identify discrepancies
· Write and edit content for Open Enrollment communications (may include posters, flyers)

· Must be results oriented with strong attention to detail and deadlines

Duration & Location
· Position will start in May/June and run through August 2007 – candidates must be available for a minimum of 10 weeks.
· Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 4:45pm, Friday 8:00am – 12:30pm
· Position is located at our corporate headquarters in Lakeville, MA (about 45 minutes South of Boston – Exit 6 off of Rte 495)
· This position will pay a competitive hourly rate ($14 - $15/hour) – based on experience, GPA, and academic achievement

Part-time summer position

A local mortgage company, founded by two UMD graduates, is looking for a business intern to work at their New Bedford office. The idea candidate should be interested in financial product sales and will be trained to conduct marketing of various mortgage programs to prospective borrowers. If you are interested in an entrepreneurial environment and understand the benefits of intensive sales training, please consider this opportunity. This is a paid position (minimum wage plus commissions) with a possibility for additional compensation via commissions. A 9-12 hour per week commitment is required; probably evenings. Looking for someone who can start as soon as possible.
