Summary:    The Junior Business Systems Analyst acts as the liaison between various departments and the I.T. department and is responsible for contributing to the business systems analysis efforts on the company’s systems and processes.  Work in partnership with business leaders in order to improve business processes through development, implementation, and maintenance of business applications systems.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Elicit business and functional requirements from a diverse set of stakeholders and effectively compile and document these needs for systems design and development.
  • Add value by understanding the business partners needs and providing options and recommendations on how best to meet those needs.
  • Distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Draft user interface design for new systems.
  • Identify data requirements for new systems or system modification.
  • Participate in the solution architecture and technical design.
  • Facilitate the decision process of build vs. buy and/or vendor selection process.
  • Adhere to all software development life cycle steps.
  • Participate in quality assurance and testing of new applications.

Education and/or Experience:
 

·          Bachelor’s Degree/Associate’s degree preferred and/or equivalent technical experience.

·          1-3 years’ experience working with set requirements.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills, interpersonal and relationship management skills.

·         Must be able to communicate effectively in both technical and business settings.

·         Self-motivated, creative, passionate and able to acclimate into a fast paced dynamic environment. 

·         Independent worker who can self-direct and lead cross functional and cross-organizational projects.

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio and Publisher.

·         Sense of Relational Design, Object Oriented and Service Oriented Architecture a plus. 

·         Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX, .NET (VB and/or C#, asp.net) and Sequel a plus.

Summary:    Use technical creative writing skills to develop, edit and maintain a variety of Information Technology (IT) documents, decipher many different types of information and arrange them in a format that clearly explains the objective. 

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works in collaboration with IT staff, management and business partners to understand the purpose, approach and content of each work product.
  • Create and maintain consistently professional standard formats for various types of work products including, but not limited to SDLC project deliverables and system operations documentation.
  • Analyze business and technical processes and project objectives to develop comprehensive technical and non-technical project deliverables. 
  • Create and edit moderately complex to complex system related information products, for both IT and non-IT customers such as procedure manuals, on-line help, quick reference cards, workflows, project materials, training materials and policy & procedures. 
  • Create and maintain documentation related to IT systems, applications and infrastructure technologies. 
  • Maintains a current internal documentation library.
  • Works with all groups within the IT function to support technical writing and documentation needs.  Ensure adherence to agreed upon standards, templates and procedures. 


Education and/or Experience:

·         Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or equivalent experience; technical writing or English preferred; Communications; Business or Computer Science discipline experience as well. 

·         Minimum of three 3 to 5 years of experience; Demonstrated Technical Writing/ Documentation development experience and ability to provide strong advocacy for customer documentation needs and requirements.

·         Experience in writing policies and procedures; editing and organizing written technical documents and materials. 

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Strong technical writing and editing ability/ experience working in a highly technical and/or IT environment.

·         Strong computer skills; MS Office, and other computer applications.

Marketing Internship at NB Whaling Museum

The New Bedford Whaling Museum (the Old Dartmouth Historical Society)  is a world-renowned museum that brings to life the rich history of the whaling industry and New Bedford. The Museum features the world’s largest whaling ship model; displays of fine and decorative arts; collections of cultural artifacts, rare antiques, scrimshaw and logbooks; and five whale skeletons including the rare blue and northern right.

 
The mission of the Old Dartmouth Historical Society is to educate and interest all the public in the historic interaction worldwide of humans with whales; in the history of Old Dartmouth and adjacent communities; and in regional maritime activity.


We have more than 90,000 visitors a year, with the majority of visitors coming from Southeastern Massachusetts – though many of our visitors are from all over the country and throughout the world.

 

I am very interested in a marketing and communications intern to help with the following tasks:

·         Assist in the creation of Marketing Plans for upcoming events and exhibitions

·         Assist in the creation and implementation of a new marketing campaign for the Museum’s Rental division

·         Assist in the creation and implementation of a new Visitor’s Guide for Museum guests

Hours of work: 16 hours per week would be preferred. Suggested schedule would be Tuesdays and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some evening hours would be helpful during special events.

Start and end dates: The intern could start as soon as possible. End date is based on the student’s availability. End of semester or end of school year would be acceptable.

Accounting Internships

rgfa ACCOUNTANTS (www.ataccountant.com) is looking for interns to join our team.  We are looking for students who are studying accounting, finance and bookkeeping to join our team.  You will be exposed to the following:

·        Preparing individual, corporate and non-profit tax returns, domestically, and internationally. 

·        Analyzing and preparing financial statements (Profit and Loss, Balance Sheets, and Statements of Cash Flow), for S-Corps, C-Corps, LLC’s and LLP’s.

·        You will have exposure to our start up process for new businesses including the development process, DBA, Articles of Incorporation, selection of best tax and legal structures.

·        Representation for clients with cases versus the Internal Revenue Service, and DOR’s (departments of revenue) through all states

·        Selection and development of accounting systems for clients based on their vertical markets.

·        Learning our client advisory process, understanding how to interact with clients and how to provide expert advice.

·        Understanding tax law, and preparing statements and documents in accordance with GAAP.

The Program / Marketing Intern at Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts will walk away with a working knowledge of a non-profit program and its relationship with the community, as well as its day-to-day operations. We take a team approach in our office, and interns will have the opportunity to attend board and committee meetings, learn about various job functions related to running a non-profit organization, and develop skill sets that will be beneficial for future employers. Since we are a non-profit organization, the internships are unpaid, but we will reimburse at the end of each month for mileage expenses that are incurred during the job.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

·         Assist with updating JASM website and social media presence

·         Determine strategies and tactics for reaching new audiences

·         Assist with creation and execution of a TV PSA

·         Create e-newsletters that will be sent out periodically

·         Conduct observation visits and take photos to be used in marketing outreach

·         Design and create content for new JASM marketing materials, consistent with JA branding guidelines

·         Assist Development Associate with foundation research and grants

·         Assist Program Manager with program maintenance, at times working with volunteers and teachers

·         Submit events to online calendars

·         Assist in the preparation and execution of JA fundraising events

·         Serve as point person with some event vendors

·         Assist with writing and distributing press releases as needed

 

Qualifications and Skills:

·         Must be a sophomore, junior or senior

·         Candidate must posses a strong interest in marketing, education or business, and/or non-profit administration

·         Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to work independently, and able to follow instructions

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Must have reliable transportation

·         Excellent computer skills required, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

·         Ability to work independently and juggle multiple tasks at once

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to take initiative and perform follow up

Unpaid Marketing Internship

The TJ2 (TJ square) robotics team from Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School in Bridgewater, MA would like the assistance of an intern. TJ2 is contacting local colleges/universities and looking for a student with marketing skills and experience with visual media to start immediately.  This is an unpaid internship. They need a student to:

1.  Acquaint himself/herself with the FIRST robotics program (www.usfirst.org)

2.  A student who will attend various group and team activities to understand our business plan and history

3.  The student must complete a finished product which conveys the essence of our team, TJ2.  This finished product will be a DVD which will be submitted as part of the Chairman's Award.  This award will be due the middle of February, 2015.

4.  The student must be able to work together and/or coordinate with other coaches/mentors who are involved with other public relation efforts, such as our website (www.tj2.org), FaceBook, Blogs, Twitter, etc. to keep the public aware of ongoing activities/events/etc.

5.  We will pay for any approved supplies needed.  Unfortunately, due to constraints of our program, it is unpaid.
